Fall Term Week 7 Progress

Week 7 was when initial tests were done on the prototype linear generator. The first flaw was the weight and the size of the prototype. The size of the generator would not fit within the TUUK holder of a skate. The wire gauge also made the design way too heavy. The wire gauge needed to be much smaller, very similar to the size seen in the flashlight. When the generator was shaken vigorously, the end caps flew off and the magnets left the device. this was another major issue. Also during week 7, I started to look into the difference between the super capacitor and the rechargeable battery. The differences between a super capacitor and the rechargeable would be very important for the design because energy containment, the release and charge time were major factors into heating the blade using motion.
