During week 7 I submitted my letter to the EcE department to request funding. I also talked to Professor Hedrick about the “Radio Link Budget” calculations I had to perform for the competition design report. We set up a time to meet next week and go over how to measure or calculate each value. My first order of parts came in but it was only the microSD cards so I had to wait until the next week to start testing components of the Data Acquisition System (DAS). I found the camera system that was purchased last year and went over the specifications. After finding some batteries and configuring the channels on the transmitter and receiver correctly I was able to get a live wireless video feed. The video transmitter draws alot of current so I started calculating what LiPo battery I will need to power the FPV system. I also designed backup systems for the FPV system and DAS in case one of the proposed systems does not work properly.
