Week One

Week one of the term consisted of preliminary research for the upcoming SRG (Student Research Grant) deadline. The SRG is due on September 25th and my main goal is to put together a project budget that is backed up with research.

Because the SRG needs to be extremely specific, I need some preliminary data. Therefore, Professor Buma suggested that I email Professor Khetan to gain access to the force plate in Butterfield. The main issue with the line sensor is differentiating the ball and a person. To decide how to do this I need to get some data on the amount of force a ball makes  compared to a person as well as the duration of the two impacts. My estimation from what I have researched from previous patents is that the duration of a ball on the line will be a lot shorter than the duration a person contacts the line.
