Automated Recycling System Using Computer Vision

Garbage surrounds us all the time. Wherever there are humans, there is trash. Trash needs to be carefully separated into containers in order to reduce pollution and save energy. In order to do this, the recycling system was developed and it’s necessary to utilize it. However, many people around the world don’t know how to recycle and if they do, they don’t do it properly.

Therefore I propose a solution involving a system that can autonomously recycle using computer vision. It will be able to identify and classify objects through digital images taken from a camera and extract those objects in those images using computer vision techniques. Then it will be separated by a segregation system into its corresponding classification: metal, glass, plastic or paper.
