Flower Evolution

The magnolia trees on campus bloom during spring, and they have a very primitive flower so flower evolution was the topic of this unit. In addition to the magnolia, students were provided with a variety of other flowers of different shapes showing various examples of evolutionary development. The students’ papers discussed flower evolution using their drawings to illustrate their discussion. In addition to their pen and ink drawing, students were introduced to color using watercolor paint.
