The spectrophotometer is used to perform light transmission and absorption measurements of aerogels and xerogels. Aerogels and xerogels with small diameters are placed in cuvettes and placed into the instrument. A Light source is exposed to the aerogel or xerogel and a detector on the other side measures the transmittance of the light.
