Radio Communications

Radio communications has always been a vital part of electrical and computer engineering. The design of transmitters, receivers, modulators/demodulators, and antennas are essential to such communications technologies as WIFI, television, radio, public safety communications, cell phones, and robotic communications.

The ECE department introduces students to radio in the first year through hands-on projects and an optional practicum course based on Amateur Radio. From here students can take additional courses, work on practical projects, or get involved in the Union College amateur radio station, W2UC. We provide support for getting licensed as an amateur radio operator, or for getting involved in the Union College FM radio station, WRUC.
