Prof. Davis has been a faculty member at Union College since 2006 and teaches courses on political economy, economic growth, and the economics of culture, and the economics of sin. He has over twenty peer-reviewed and edited articles, including three coauthored with Union students, with recent publications in the Journal of Economic Growth, European Economic Review, Journal of Comparative Economics, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, and the Journal of Development Studies. Prof. Davis’ research addresses a broad range of topics, including economic growth, income inequality, political economy, intellectual property rights, individualism, social solidarity and envy. Prof. Davis serves on the editorial boards of the Eastern Economic Journal and the Review of Economics and Institutions and recently organized the 11th Annual Workshop on Macroeconomic Research at Liberal Art Colleges, which took place at Union College in August, 2015.

Professor Dvorak teaches courses on personal finance, business analytics and econometrics. His research interests are in the design of retirement plans, performance measurement, financial literacy and conflicts of interest in financial markets. His work has been published in top academic journals including Quarterly Journal of Economics and the Journal of Finance. He also serves as a fiduciary of Union College’s defined contribution retirement plan.

Professor Schmidt’s research is primarily in applied microeconometrics and the economics of education, with some interests in environmental policy economics as well. He teaches a variety of courses in econometrics, introductory microeconomics, game theory, economics of education. He also teaches an interdisciplinary class on normative economics. Recent publications have appeared in Journal of Public Economics, Education Finance and Policy, Economics of Education Review, Restoration Ecology, and Journal of Economic Education.
