Union College’s Commitment to
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion:

Affinity Groups

BIPOC Employee Alliance

The BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) Employee Alliance was formed in Fall 2021 by BIPOC employees. This group is for BIPOC employees at Union to foster a community and create a visible social network for those employees who identify as BIPOC. BIPOC Employee Alliance recognizes our intersectionalities as communities spanning borders, genders, races, and other identities. We recognize the unique cultures and experiences of our communities and join in solidarity for the advancement and retention of employees who identify as BIPOC.

LGBTQ+

Union is committed to fostering and maintaining an environment that is welcoming and safe for all students and employees. We offer an array of resources to help members of the LGBTQ+ community fit in, grow and thrive; to end discrimination and bias; and to promote awareness, understanding and acceptance of gender variations.

Liaison Committee for Campus Diversity

The Liaison Committee for Campus Diversity shall advise the Chief Diversity Officer on all matters of concern to the campus community in reference to diversity including issues related to multiculturalism, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, and ageism. The Chief Diversity Officer may also bring to the Committee any matter for consultation. Recommendations for policy or procedure changes shall be brought to the attention of the Chief Diversity Officer and the President.

Women of Color Collective

Women of Color Collective (WOCC) was established in 2018 to bring together self-identified women of color (including Arab/Middle Eastern, Asian/Pacific Islander, Black/African, Latinx, Native/Indigenous, and Multiracial) to foster a sense of community and solidarity. We welcome students, faculty, and staff who identify as a woman of color at Union College. Women of Color Collective has been instrumental in providing opportunities for self-identified women of color to connect with one another and share personal, academic, professional, and social challenges.

UNITAS

UNITAS fosters community and diversity at Union by supporting groups and individuals who create events and educational opportunities that foster both. Students, staff, administrators, and faculty who have new ideas about how to increase and celebrate diversity and promotion of community at Union may apply for a Unitas grant to make their idea become a reality. Membership is open to all members of the Union community (Students, Alum, Faculty, Staff).
