Faculty and staff members are often a key part of the fellowships application process, fulfilling a variety of roles for the student:
- identifying talented students and notifying the Fellowships Office
- giving students the confidence needed to apply for an award
- sharing expertise and mentoring students as they put together research and project proposals
- writing letters or completing forms of recommendation
To streamline the process of recommending students to the Fellowships Office, I have created a secure online form. Faculty and staff can complete the Fellowships Student Recommendation Form (after signing into the system with a Union username and password) to endorse a student for a particular fellowship or to simply indicate that you think a student would be a good candidate for fellowships in general. When signing into the form, be sure to leave the @union.edu off your username.
To further assist faculty and staff as they support student fellowship applicants, I have also assembled a list of Letter of Recommendation Tips. Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to discuss writing letters of recommendation further.
