Alchemy: Works by Luis Castro, Melinda McDaniel and Laura Von Rosk

July 14, 2006 – August 27, 2006

alchemy_596x600_763x768Alchemy is an exhibition of sculpture, painting and photography that broadly explores form and shape in a variety of ways. The exhibition’s title takes its inspiration from the artists’ magic configuration of the natural world into something new and unique. Laura Von Rosk finds her inspiration in landscape, with an interest in exploring the tension between natural form and the unconscious memory. Luis Castro creates sculpture from found materials, reconfiguring them into richly tactile shapes that reflect his interest in preservation and architecture. Melinda McDaniel deconstructs her photographs by slicing them into strips and squares, relating the re-ordered images to landscapes and other forms.

The artists include: Luis Castro, Melinda McDaniel, and Laura Von
