In preparation for construction of the F.W. Olin Center, the traffic circle east of Reamer Campus Center will be closed for utility relocation work during winter break. Campus Operations staff were working with a contractor to transplant trees from the Olin and Schaffer sites to other areas on campus. After break, the circle will be fully useable until April, when it will be removed.

The College is hosting an open house for prospective engineering students on Monday,
Nov. 11. It will include discussions of the revised curriculum, demonstrations of
student projects, sessions on Terms Abroad (“virtual and real”), and information
on co-ops, Term in Industry and career advising.
John Garver, associate professor of geology, will deliver a faculty colloquium on
“The Geology of Kamchatka, Russia, and the Status of the Geosciences in Russia”
on Thursday, Nov. 14, at 4:30 p.m. in the Reamer Campus Center Auditorium.
The St. Cecelia Orchestra and Albany Pro Musica will perform In the Shadow of the
Rainbow on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 8 p.m. at Troy Savings Bank Music Hall. The
piece, composed by Paul Luby, was commissioned by Prof. Rudy Nydegger, psychology, as a
tribute to his late father, Vernon, a lifelong musician. Cost is $15. Proceeds are to

Members of the Union community and their families are invited to represent the College
in the annual Schenectady Christmas Parade on Friday, Nov. 29, at 7 p.m. Step off
will be from the parking lot at Schenectady County Community College. “We thought
this would be a great way to have fun and to show the Union spirit to our friends in the
community,” said Michael Hilton of Campus Safety, who is organizing the effort along
with John Skumurski of Finance. Details will be forthcoming.
