TARYN SCINTO

Freshman guard Taryn Scinto (Westwood, NJ/Immaculate Heart) was named the “Rookie of the Week” by the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association for her performances against Russell Sage and Middlebury.

Scinto, who has started four of the Dutchwomen's six games thus far, scored 11 points with four assists and five steals in helping Union defeat Russell Sage, 60-46, on December 7. She then contributed 15 points and six rebounds (both team highs) along with two assists and a steal in the Dutchwomen's 66-56 loss at Middlebury on December 9.
Scinto is among the Dutchwomen's leading three-point shooters with a percentage of 38.5 and has also contributed 34 points, 11 rebounds, eight assists and a team-high 12 steals (which ranks her seventh in the UCAA with an average of 2.0 per game). She has combined for 26 points in her last two outings after scoring just eight points in her first four games.

The Dutchwomen, who will play in the Las Vegas, Nevada, tournament the week of December 17, are off to the best start in the 26-year history of the sport at 5-1. Union, which won its first five contests, is looking to surpass the College's single-season record of 13 victories, which was set during the 1978-79 season and tied by last year's squad.
