Prof. McCarty presents paper on California tax revenue

of economics, presented a paper last week titled “Developing a Rule for
Allocating Property Tax Revenue in California:
Econometrics Meets Politics” at the annual research conference of the
Association for Public Policy Analysis and Management in Washington.

Prof. Sharlet a panelist on post-communist courts

Robert Sharlet, Chauncey
Winters Research Professor of Political Science, served as chair and
commentator of a panel on post-communist courts and politics at the Law & Society
Association national conference in Pittsburgh
last June. He also was on a panel on Russian civil law development at an
international conference at Leiden University
in The Netherlands in September. He recently published  “Russia
in the Middle: State-Building and the Rule of Law” in After Communism: Perspectives on Democracy, edited by D.R. Kelley (University
of Arkansas Press, 2003). His
recommendations to the Kyrgyz Republic
have been included in Analysis of the
Constitutional Amendments for the Kyrgyz Republic
(American Bar
Association, August, 2003).

Wanted: study subjects for psychology thesis

Psychology major Kristin
Bonomo is seeking same-sex couples to interview for her
senior thesis.

There is minimal literature on
same-sex relationships, said Bonomo, who is interested in studying how labor
and power are negotiated in those relationships.

All information will be treated as
confidential, and there will be a small compensation for participants. Bonomo's
thesis advisor is Gail Donaldson.
