Rachel Beckman

Union women's lacrosse goaltender Rachel Beckman (Needham, MA/Needham) started in goal for all three of Union's wins last week. The junior combined for 26 saves and allowed just 18 goals on 52 shots. In the team's 13-9 win at Vassar she made 11 saves. Against Hamilton, Beckman made 11 saves, including a stop with 3:41 left on a free position shot to preserve a one-goal lead and help Union capture the Liberty League regular season championship in a close 7-5 win. The next day she made four saves in a 17-4 win against St. John Fisher. On the season, Beckman has an 8-3 record with an 8.00 goals against average.

The Dutchwomen are 11-3 and return to action next weekend. Union will host the 2005 Liberty League Women's Lacrosse Championships on May 7 and 8 at Frank Bailey Field. #1 seed Union will play #4 seed Hamilton at 11 a.m. and Skidmore will face St. Lawrence at 1:30 p.m. in semifinal action Saturday. Sunday will feature the championship game at 12 p.m.
