Today we developed the theoretical circuits for each of the four functions based on our tables from the previous day. As we already know, the function controller has 6 ports as we denoted A, B, C, D, E, and F. The ports are wired as followed:

  • Port A: To lower right heating element
  • Port B: To upper right heating element and port F
  • Port C: To power supply and port D
  • Port D: To port C
  • Port E: To the fan
  • Port F: To port B

The rough draft for the four circuits are shown below:

Also, in order to confirm that what we deduced from the wired connection is in fact corresponded with what the oven performs, I put the oven back together and took some pictures to see what actually happens when the oven is running, separately in four different modes:

Keep Warm

Keep Warm

In the keep warm mode, only the upper heating elements are turned on, and the dull light indicates that the power used is not really high in this mode.

Bake

Bake

In bake mode, all 4 heating elements are turned on and this is also the only mode that has the fan spinning. The lightness indicates that the power is high.

Broil

Broil

In this broil mode, similar to the keep warm, only the two upper heating elements are turned on. But this time, they are used with high power.

Toast

Toast

Lastly, in toast mode, similar to bake, all the heating elements are turned on and the only different is that the fan is not spinning.
