Rory Nizolek – Co-President
Rory is a senior from Madison, CT majoring in Economics with a minor in Political Science. He previously interned at Morgan Stanley in their Public Finance Division and Northwestern Mutual. On campus, Rory works in the career center as a peer career adviser and in the library as a Bloomberg research consultant. In his free time, he enjoys playing basketball.
Jonathan Fields – Co-President
Jonathan is a senior from Schenectady, NY majoring in Managerial Economics and minoring in Law and Humanites. This past summer, Jonathan interned at Barclays within their Healthcare Coverage Group in Investment Banking. He will be returning to Barclays upon graduation. Previously, Jonathan interned at Morgan Stanley in their Fixed Income Division, Hugh Johnson Advisors, a financial planning firm and DLG Wealth Management. On campus, Jonathan serves on the sexual and student misconduct board. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family, friends and the gym.
Sarah is a senior from Great Neck, NY majoring in Economics. Last summer Sarah interned at EY in their Business Advisory Program. She will return to EY following graduation as a staff in their Financial Services Advisory Office. On campus, Sarah acts a two year co-president of the Women in Economics Society, works as an econometrics tutor, and served as Social Chair for Sigma Delta Tau. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, music, travel, and spending time with her family and friends.
Kevin McKnoble -Chief Investment Officer
Kevin is a senior from Rockville Centre, NY majoring in Managerial Economics and minoring in Spanish. This past winter, Kevin interned at Pine Street Capital Partners, which is a mezzanine debt investment firm. He previously interned at Duff & Phelps this past summer as a Valuation Summer Analyst. At Union, Kevin is a Captain of the Men’s Basketball Team and the Volunteer Chair for the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). In his free time, he enjoys golfing, snowboarding, and spending time with his friends and family.
Maha Mian – Chief Economist
Maha is a senior from Syracuse, NY majoring in Managerial Economics and minoring in Mathematics and Computer Science. This past summer Maha interned at Washington Business Dynamics as a Management Consulting Analyst. She plans to return to the consulting industry post-graduation. On campus, Maha is a choreographer for the Hip Hop Club, a First-Year Orientation Advisor, a Big Brothers, Big Sisters Mentor, and an Economics Tutor. In her free time, she enjoys tennis and dance.
Emersyn is a sophomore from Syracuse, NY majoring in Economics and minoring in Mathematics. She spent most of her recent summer interning at the United States Attorney’s Office, Northern District of NY. This upcoming summer, Emersyn will be interning at Bank of America, in Syracuse. On campus, Emersyn is the Co-Chair of Sorum House Council and Vice President of Operations for Delta Phi Epsilon. In her free time, Emersyn enjoys traveling, watching movies, and being with friends and family.
Ross Kesselman – Healthcare
Ross is a Sophmore from Newton, MA double majoring in economics and political science. Ross has interned at The Halloran Consulting Group a BioPharma consulting firm. Last summer Ross was a summer analyst on the transaction team at Back Bay Life Science Advisors, where he assisted in facilitating M&A activity for clinical and early-stage biotech and medical device companies. Ross has also worked at Ame and Lulu, a golf and tennis company driving sales and customer acquisition. In his spare time, Ross enjoys skiing, biking, and reading.
Eric Zimm – Industrials
Eric is a Junior from Manhasset NY majoring in Managerial Economics. Last summer Eric was an Intern at Stifel Financial in NYC. This summer Eric will be an intern for AIG. On campus Eric is a member of the Men’s Lacrosse team. In his free time he enjoys fishing, golfing, meditating, and playing with his dogs.
Talha is a senior from Islamabad, Pakistan, studying Economics and History. He previously interned with Askari Bank Ltd and Citigroup Pakistan. He has been involved in numerous things on campus, including having served as the Editor-in-Chief of the student-run newspaper, Concordiensis, working as a fellow for the University Innovation Fellows Program, and working with the Admissions Office as a senior intern. He is also a Co-Founder of TEDx UnionCollege. In his free time, he enjoys traveling and playing soccer.
Ryan is a Junior from New Canaan, CT majoring in History. He has interned at BCP Securities an independent, full-service global Emerging Markets Investment Bank in Greenwich Connecticut and Scott-Macon an independent Investment bank in New York City. This coming summer, Ryan will be working at Cowen and Company as a Cross-Asset summer analyst specializing in distressed and special situations, with a focus on event-driven and credit intensive, cross-capital situations. On campus, He is on the Men’s Club Ice hockey team and a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. In his free time, Ryan enjoys working out, reading, and cooking.
Kane Jaklitsch – Utilities
Kane is a Sophomore from Cold Spring Harbor, NY double majoring in Computer Science and Economics. Kane spent his most recent summer interning for Citdex, a blockchain and crypto currency advisory firm, where he worked with their research team. On campus, Kane serves as the Risk Manager for Sigma Chi and works for Information Technology Services. In his free time, Kane enjoys playing golf, reading, and supporting the New York Jets.
Edward is a junior from Beijing, China, majoring in Economics and Mathematics, and minoring in Statistics. He interned at KPMG China in the Audit Department to help with ICBC’s semi-annual report. On campus, Edward is the Treasurer of Kappa Alpha Society Fraternity. In his free time, he enjoys swimming and playing soccer.
Bri Stout – Emerging Markets
Brianna is a junior studying Political Science and Economics. Last summer, she interned at Massachusetts Financial Services and this summer will be interning at Citi joining their Markets and Securities division. Brianna is originally from Concord, MA. Outside of the Garnet Group, she is a member of the women’s Lacrosse team, the vice president of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee, and co-president of the Women in Economics Society. In her free time, she enjoys running, cooking, reading, and watching movies
Jarrod is a junior from Stamford, CT majoring in Managerial Economics. This past summer he interned at Chatsworth Securities, a boutique investment bank in Greenwich, CT. This coming year, Jarrod will be interning at Morgan Stanley within their Sales and Trading division. He is also a graduate of the Tuck Business Bridge Program at Dartmouth. On campus, Jarrod is president of the bowling club and actively volunteers at the local nursing home. In his free time, he enjoys watching NBA basketball, playing poker, fishing, and playing fortnite.
Charles McGovern – Consumer
Charles is a junior from Wilton, CT majoring in Economics with a minor in Comparative Politics. This past summer he interned for Pareto Securities in their Corporate Finance division. This coming summer Charles will be interning at Freepoint Commodities as a Liquidity Risk Summer Analyst. In addition to his involvement with the Garnet Group, Charles is a captain of the Union College men’s varsity lacrosse team and serves as a team representative for the Student Athletic Advisory Committee. In his free time, Charles enjoys playing basketball, reading, and spending time with his family and friends.
Jonas is a sophomore from Seoul, South Korea majoring in economics and political science. He previously interned at the DC-based equity research firm Washington Analysis. At Union, Jonas is a member of the men’s soccer team, writes for the school newspaper, and participated in Union’s Chicago Quantitative Alliance (CQA) portfolio challenge team. In his free time, Jonas enjoys rock climbing and skiing in Vermont.
Robert Grande – FICC
JT is a junior from Weston, CT majoring in Economics with a minor in History. He spent his most recent summer at Varagon Capital Partners, a multi-billion dollar asset manager focused on direct lending to middle-market companies. This upcoming summer JT will be interning at Citi within their Prime, Future, and Securities Services unit. On campus, JT serves as an orientation advisor ensuring a smooth transition for first-year students. In his free time, JT enjoys Crossfit and making electronic dance music.
Sam Varsano – Real Estate
Sam is a senior from Marblehead, Massachusetts majoring in Political Science and minoring in Psychology. Sam interned for the The Dartmouth Company this past winter. He will be working for Converge Ventures upon his graduation, which is a subside of The Dartmouth Company. He has also interned for Roadside Development, SS&C Technologies and Pacific Packaging Products. At Union, Sam has served as the President/Treasurer for the class of 2019 and has been a member of the finance committee. His favorite hobbies include playing tennis, squash and golf as well as hanging out with friends and family.
Yasin is a junior from Paterson, New Jersey majoring in Economics. He has previously interned with Select Dental Management, a boutique private equity firm focusing on the dental industry. This coming summer, Yasin will be interning at BTIG with their Investment Banking Division. On campus, Yasin is a captain of the Men’s Soccer Team and is an active member of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee. In his free time, he enjoys playing basketball and spending time with his friends and family.
Iliyas is a sophomore from Casablanca, Morocco majoring in computer science and economics. This past winter break, Iliyas interned at Tobin & Co Investment Banking group in Charlotte, North Carolina within their M&A team. At Union, Iliyas writes regularly in the Concordiensis within their World section and is Vice-President of the Arab Culture Club. He enjoys playing soccer, traveling and surfing.
Ben Weinstein is a junior from Armonk,NY studying Economics and English double major. Last summer Ben was a student with the Tuck Business Bridge program at Dartmouth College. This summer he is an incoming analyst in the sales and trading department with Evercore. On campus, Ben is a member of Union College’s Men’s soccer team and Vice President of The Sigma Chi. Previously, he worked for an IRS VITA program, served on the executive board of The Interfraternity Council and Chabad House. Ben is also an incoming senior intern with admissions in the fall where he will be interviewing prospective students. Ben is a fun and energetic leader that is always willing to help our younger members with any networking or job related questions they may have.
Joe is a senior from Easton, Connecticut majoring in Managerial Economics. After graduation, he will be working as a Financial Advisor at Bank of America Merill Lynch. On campus, Joe is the captain and centerfielder of the baseball team, where he has won two Liberty League championships. He is also a member of the Economics Club. In his free time he enjoys hiking, traveling and spending time with his dog Kobe.
Professor Cheng is currently a visiting assistant professor in the Department of Economics at Union College. As of April 2019, Professor Cheng is on the tenure track in the Department of Economics at Union College. He has a Ph.D. and M.A. in Economics from Vanderbilt University. In addition, he holds an M.A. and B.A. in Economics from Renmin University of China.
