Sociology Club

About the Club…

The Sociology Club is run entirely by students, for students. This year the Sociology Club is looking to expand their focus and encourage students across all disciplines to attend the club’s events. Students who have been instrumental in the revival include Maria Apruzzese, Darcy Berger, Sandya Sainvil, Caroline Friedman, and Francesca Imgruth.

Events they have been brainstorming with Faculty Advisor David Cotter include

  • Interacting with the Kenney Community Center,
  • Lunch discussions in the Wold Minerva that are aimed at getting students together from different majors, and
  • Teaming up with the Black Student Union to discuss the events of the summer surrounding the Trayvon Martin trial.

We are also exploring the idea of bringing alumni to campus to discuss what they have done with their sociology degree.

Get involved!

Senior Maria Apruzzese, an active Soc Club member, discusses her thesis with Prof. Tim Stablein. On October 8th, Prof. Stablein discussed his current research on doctor-patient relationships at the Sociology Club’s first meeting of the year.

The Club is open to all students who are interested in sociology — you do not have to be a major!
