Jue Wang, Assistant Professor of Mathematics
Jue Wang’s research interests include fluid dynamics and turbulence, medical image processing and numerical analysis. Her current work focuses on the artifact-free reconstruction of ultrasound image information and 3D segmentation. Spatial variations of attenuation across tissue layers can result in shadowing and enhancement artifacts in ultrasound B-scan images. These artifacts hide underlying echo signals that are truly clinically indicative of diseases and tumors. She has developed novel mathematical models and methods towards high quality attenuation compensation. She formulates and solves the inverse problem using energy minimization with region-based isotropic regularizations. This work will bring new insights into cancer detection and is particularly valuable for treatment planning.

Krisanna Scheiter, Assistant Professor of Philosophy
Krisanna Scheiter specializes in ancient Greek and Roman philosophy. Her work currently focuses on emotion and imagination in Plato and Aristotle. She is interested in questions in both ancient and contemporary discussions regarding the ontology of emotion and the moral significance of emotions, especially ethics of anger, revenge, and forgiveness.
