mr. union!

By far my favorite event of the entire year at Union is hands down Mr. Union. As it is essentially a male pageant show that allows 16 of Union’s most eligible bachelors to demonstrate their talents, as well as flaunt their beach bods. The event consists of a swimsuit fashion show for the boys, followed by their talents and concluding with a question and answer portion. After a long and stressful process, four boys from each grade were chosen to compete. Quite frankly, I think that being chosen to represent your grade for the annual Mr. Union show is an honor. The boys are chosen through nominations and, eventually, voting by the members of Delta Delta Delta’s pledge class. Mr. Union is an event that Delta’s pledge class puts on for the campus, and I was beyond excited to be able to help out with it this year. Our theme was the circus, and our two fabulous hostesses even dressed up in full ringleader regalia. Complete with popcorn and circus themed decorations, Mr. Union was a hit. Thanks to our fabulous judges (Amanda Librot, Maddy Levine and Scudder Clay), we were able to crown the winner at the end of the night. Coming in third place was sophomore team Anthony Vitiello and Julian Gendels, in second was sophomore Joe Hinderstein and crowned Mr. Union 2012 was senior Andrew McLain!

All proceeds of this event go to a cause that is very near and dear to the hearts of the TriDelta sisters: the Gordie Foundation. The Gordie Foundation is the result of a young man who was pledging a fraternity and died due to hazing activities where he was forced to drink more than his body could handle. The Gordie Foundation raises anti-hazing awareness, and our pledge class raised over 1,000 dollars to further the cause! Another great year for Mr. Union!
