Hockey at Union

There’s no doubt that hockey is one of the biggest things at Union. In case you didn’t know, we are D1 and play against IVY LEAGUE schools. Oh hello it’s us, Union, beating Harvard in a hockey game!

Joining Rugby at Union

Are you aggressive? Do you sometimes want to just tackle people? Do you know how to play Rugby?
If your answers were yes, yes, and no, then we were in the same boat until about 3 weeks ago.

Club Expo 2015

Club Expo as a freshman is basically an event for joining every club you might have the slightest interest in.  For me, that was about ten clubs.  Could I tell you everything I signed up for?  Probably not.  However, I was told that it is better to sign up for too much and then have to drop a few things instead of wishing you signed up for more. The club that now takes up a majority of my free time is Women’s Rugby.  I thought it was important to try something I had never done before as well as have a...

Thank U

There are two days of classes left in Spring term, and one class left for me in my undergraduate career. I’ve had a lot of time over the past few weeks to reflect on my past four years here at Union and the only thing I can think of to say is: Thank You. During high school all you hear about is how college is the best four years of your life.  While I can’t speak to that now because I have no idea what will happen during the rest of my life, I can say that the past four...

Semi-Competitive Softball

During my first year of college, I was invited to an intramural softball game by a friend of mine who was a senior. The game had such a relaxed atmosphere, I wish that I had started playing that year. Softball is offered as an intramural co-rec sport only in the Spring here at Union, and since I was abroad for that term last year I wasn’t able to play. This year, though, I managed to get enough of my friends and acquaintances together to form a ragtag team. A good fraction of our team had never played baseball or softball...

U Crew

This past weekend the crew team had our first race!  On Saturday our novice boat raced against U Albany, and on Sunday we faced Hamilton.  We were all very excited for our first race, especially since it was against Hamilton.  We have a long standing rivalry with Hamilton and each year compete for trophies against them. Overall our crews did pretty well, but unfortunately we didn’t win the trophy.  Even though we improve every year, Hamilton does too and they are a hard team to beat! This was the 10th year in a row that Hamilton’s women’s varsity boat...

Jay Peak Trip

Union’s ski and snowboard club is one of the most highly funded on campus. This year I only went on a handful of trips because I bought my own pass. But the one trip I had to get on was the overnight to Jay Peak. I had never skied at Jay before and so I really wanted to go at the incredibly discounted price we get through the ski club. For just a 20-hour wait in line there was housing at a hostel for 2 nights including a sauna and 2 breakfasts, 2 day passes to Jay Peak, and transportation...
