in the next week…

By this point you probably have come to realize that I am quite the planner and live religiously by my schedule (see here and here), but this next week will probably be my craziest of college yet. Why? Not only do I have to hand in all of my final assignments for my classes (details below), but I have a twin sister who just happens to also go to a school on the trimester schedule which just happens to be 3,000 miles away in Southern California. Oh, and throw in there that the two of us will be turning...

vacation time

Last week I spent my spring break down in Naples, Florida with my twin sister and my boyfriend. The weather reached 80 degrees nearly every day and I think I probably could have stayed for at least another 3 months without getting bored! (Read more about our adventures here). The thing about being in college is that you’re absolutely broke (unless you’re one of those lucky spoiled ones), but there is no better time to travel like crazy. Going abroad is a great option (fellow student bloggers Maura and Jordan went abroad last fall and Mary and Cam are...

naples

Tomorrow I will be flying down to Naples, Florida to visit my grandmother. I am bringing my boyfriend and we’re meeting my twin sister down there (who also goes to a trimester school and just happens to have the exact same spring break as us — what luck!). While I am most excited just to have time off after a grueling 10-week term (hello, finishing my senior thesis…), there are countless other things I am looking forward to: catching up with my grandmother, seeing my sister, swimming in the ocean, laying out on the beach, reading books for fun,...

15 weeks

It’s Week 5 here at the U. Now, normally that would mean some post from me about prepping for midterms or wishing you all the best of luck (like this or this), but this term I have something new to say: I will be graduating in 15 weeks. The fact that my senior year of college is already half way over is completely beyond me. I was just a senior in high school! Scurrying about the locker-lined halls with my twin sister, planning our Senior Gala and waiting for college acceptance letters to come in the mail… How did this happen...

my wonderful winter break

Can you believe that over six weeks ago I was sharing ideas for what to do over winter break? Now it’s already 2014 and we’re back in Schenectady for what will hopefully be another amazing 10-week term. While I am very excited to be back, I am definitely already a little nostalgic for my vacation fun… Here’s a peak at what my six weeks looked like: I spent the first half of my break in cool California. I flew into San Francisco, road tripped down to Pasadena to pick up my twin sister from Caltech, and then drove back...

the college schedule

One of the biggest questions I had coming into college was what my daily schedule would look like. I couldn’t wrap my head around anything but my 7am-4pm high school day. I would beg my parents, “Yeah, but what will I do all day?!” And they would answer (correctly), “Well, when you’re not in class, you’ll be studying, and when you’re not studying, you’ll be doing clubs, and when you’re not doing clubs, you’ll be hanging out with friends.” But, I still couldn’t get it. Now, however, I do. And I’ll tell you something: I love it! So for all...

missing me some twin

Well, we’re back at the U! But as many of you faithful followers might already know, I visited my twin sister over our Spring Break. While I absolutely adore Union and am always happy to return to campus, coming back has been particularly difficult for me these past few days. In short: I miss my twin! Sometimes I get so swept up with homework and work that I forget how much I miss her. We do a fine job of keeping in touch — texting, skyping, emailing, tweeting — but being 3000 miles apart and having a 3 hour time difference between us is really...

bon voyage!

Tomorrow I fly to California to visit my twin sister, Julia! I am so super duper excited to see her, you have no idea. Between searching for internships (not so promising, very promising!!!), killing myself with clubs (Russian, Russian, more Russian, more Russian, Culinary, more Culinary, Catholic Student Association, Colleges Against Cancer, more CAC, U for Israel), killing myself with classes (not enough hours in the day, stress & lack of sleep, ), traveling all over the place (NY, NY again, DC), getting sick, lots of snow, lots of ups and lots of downs, this term has been a killer one. But somehow we made it!! While I am doubtful that a single week will be long enough to...

at the present i am…

Clare, of the adorable blog Clarabelle, recently had a post that I thought was  just too cute not to imitate. She outlined a couple of her current happenings which I think is such a nice treat for readers who are always curious about the writers behind their favorite blogs! I’m calling mine, “at the present I am…” So here it goes: at the present I am… ♥ wearing: A workout tank and yoga pants — I didn’t have a chance to get to the gym at all during my exams and I am finally back on track ♥ listening: Philip Phillips — one of my best friends...

Cat ’14

I usually don’t pay much attention to my publishing setting on Unfiltered, but the other day I read my profile name, Cat ’14, and did a double take: Cat ’14. As in the year 2014. As in I will be graduating in 2014. That’s frighteningly soon! Sometimes because I transferred I feel like I did my freshman year twice, so I feel like I have more time left at Union than I actually do. It’s really scary and sad because I love this place SO much. In just 5 short terms I have beasted my classes, joined and led so many wonderful clubs,...
