This project would not have been possible without the help and generosity of two major companies. First, I was introduced to David Russell, an employee of 3D Systems in the Boston area by a mutual friend, Jacob LaRocca. David offered to print my models free of charge! He was also unbelievably flexible with his own schedule in order to help me get this project done on time. David’s generous contribution reduced the budget of this project by nearly $500.
The second major contribution came as a result of an email to the Griffin Laboratories website asking about their electro-larynx products. This company and a few of the brands they carry were highly recommended to me by some local speech pathologists. Unfortunately, they were way too expensive for the scope of this project. Luckily, Cliff Griffin, a head researcher for the company, called me shortly after receiving my email to inquire about my work. By the end of the conversation Cliff offered to send me an electro-larynx in exchange for a set of my models once the project was completed. I was more than happy to share my research, after all the project’s goal is better education!
