Small robots capable of exploring, mapping, and racing through a small maze, are built by college students in an annual competition hosted this year by Union College in Schenectady, NY.  A successful micromouse involves the design and construction of the hardware, control, sensor and system integration, microcontroller integration, and development of computer algorithms for mapping and route planning. Team members gain technical skills, team work, time management, and communication skills useful in the field of robotics and mechatronics.
