Makerspace Director

Cole Belmont is a passionate educator, maker and technologist who is excited to join the Union College team as the Director of the Makerspace Consortium. Though trained as an architect, Cole has spent the last 10 years shifting focus from building structures to building strong students, facilities and educational moments that increase capabilities and curiosities. He comes to Union by way of the Pratt Institute where he earned his Master’s in Architecture in 2010 and has been an employee since 2007. At Pratt, Cole was a Visiting Assistant Professor, CNC and Robotics Shop Manager, Operations Manager and founding member of the Consortium for Research & Robotics. Cole has taught both graduate and undergraduate classes in architectural design and fabrication at Pratt and the New Jersey Institute of Technology, and has been an invited critic at Pratt, Columbia University, NJIT and the University of New Mexico. He looks forward to bringing his passion and experience to the Makerspace Consortium and hopes to create rich educational moments and help develop makerspaces that inspire and facilitate the research of others.
