Water shortage is a real concern. Not just in developing countries, but at home in the United States. A proven way to reduce water consumption is to make the consumer aware of just how much water they are using. By metering the water consumption in Venecia, Nicaragua, I hope to show the community that with effort, water shortages will be fended off. To accomplish the task of metering, I will take concepts from different electrical engineering sectors to create a working system. The system will meter the water flow, transmit the data wirelessly, and display it in a way that can be accessed by anyone who pleases to see it. Once the data is stored, users will be able to find historical trends, track key times during the day, and reduce their overall water consumption.
