This week I gave my Design Defense presentation for ECE498 as well as doing more research and testing. I was able to obtain two barometric altitude sensors from a Professor and test the accuracy of both sensors on a small 10 foot scale to determine is either option is feasible for my needs. I also borrowed a pair of 2.4GHz Series 1 XBees from Professor Traver. I was able to configure the modules to talk to each other but I only have one XBee Explorer board so I can only test/configure one board at a time until I receive an arduino or another XBee explorer.
