Week 2

To begin Week 2 of Fall Term, our team’s faculty advisor, Professor Luke Dosiek, and I made a list of the possible image forensic techniques we might want to implement for our system design following my initial research from Week 1. My major task of the week was to research the process of demosaicing further and to research the possibilities of extracting a RAW image from a JPEG image. After my first week of research, the color interpolation process known as demosaicing seemed like the most promising direction for our system design. Along with my research for this week, I assigned the rest of our team the task of investigating how to extract average RGB pixel values from an image using Matlab. I believe that this task would be a constructive introduction to image forensics in order to familiarize our team with the basics on how to solve this camera identification challenge.
