Understanding the central dogma and its regulation has led to identifying pharmaceutical targets to treat diseases like bacterial and viral infections and cancer.
As we study these processes during the term I think it is important to make connections between the course material and the therapeutic advances that have been made by learning these details.
The aim of this project is to study one of these drugs in detail and create a 2 slide powerpoint that could be printed as a single page infographic to teach someone about the drug. This should be a mix of figures and text- feel free to break out your inner graphic designer!
Among the topics that MUST be covered (if there are other interesting things you can add them):
- What is the brand name and the chemical name?
- What is the structure?
- What is the target and mechanism?
- How is it used?
- How successful is it? Has it been superseded by a different drug?
- Is there evidence of resistance?
- References- everything should be properly cited. You must provide copies of 1 review paper and 1 primary research article that you used for your research (I’m sure that you will need more than those 2 but I only need copies of at least 1 review and 1 primary research article).
