About IMPACT

IMPACT (Industry Mentoring Program – Advancing Career Tracks) began in 2016-17 with a dozen mentors from General Electric, many of whom are Union College alumni and parents, and 18 STEM students selected on a competitive basis.

The IMPACT Team, comprising faculty, Career Services, and College Relations, established the program to help students develop both professional and technical skills. Students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher are welcome to apply, with preference is given to applicants in their junior year. The IMPACT team selects students based on the quality of their application and the availability of mentors with common research interests.

Throughout the academic year, mentors and mentees meet informally to discuss professional goals. There are also opportunities for mentors and mentees to meet on campus. During the 2017-18 academic year, there will be a Meet and Greet in October in fall term, a program on How to Find a Job in winter term, and a corporate breakfast the morning of the Steinmetz Symposium in spring term.

The IMPACT Team is available to all participants for guidance and support (IMPACT@union.edu(518) 388-6011).
