My Project TIER colleagues and I did a session at the 2016 AEA CTREE conference on transparency and reproducibility in empirical research. My piece of the session argued that teaching programming, i.e. coding, should be part of undergraduate econometrics curriculum. The resulting short paper is here.  To some extent, it is an undergraduate version of Gentzkow and Shapiro (20014).  If you just want to start teaching programming in econometrics you may find my two illustrative examples helpful – there is one in Stata and one in R (which builds on my earlier piece of econometric pedagogy).
