Design

The system contains four sections: an optical heart rate sensor, a motion sensor, a microcontroller and a Bluetooth LE transmission board. The motion sensor is the key of the system to improving the accuracy of pulse measurements. Commercial devices without a motion sensor have to rely on internal algorithms to filter the raw heart rate signal. It is more helpful to obtain body movement information and use it to help with data processing. The system is able to remove the motion artifact in real time with the motion sensor.
