Week Five

This week is when I started to build my prototype. A very important specification I have is that this system needs to be flat. Though, this is only a prototype and it does not have to be what I ideally envisioned. Because my prototype has to be portable, I decided to double up a 3″ wide beige piece of tape for the base so the bottom did not stick to the floor. I also did not order the most thin tape I could find, mostly due to time constraints. Another issue I had with the saftey specification was the fact that I could not solder directly only to the force sensitive resistors, therefore I used clamps at the ends which were pretty bulky. There are thin clamps on the market but I did not have the time to order them. Overall, the prototype did not come out as “pretty” as intended. The wires got tangled and the line became bulky. The picture below is my line without the color tape on top. In the pictures you can see the three force sensitive resistors for each section as well as the 3″ wide base. IMG_6831
