LGBTQ at Union, 2015
September 4th – December 14th, 2015
The annual LGBTQ at Union exhibition returns this fall to the Wikoff Student Gallery, September 4th through December 14th, 2015. This year the exhibition will again coincide with October’s LGBTQ History Month and National Coming Out Day, which is Sunday, October 11th, and will include work in painting, photography, digital art, short historical fiction, and film by current Union College professors, students and recent alumni.
“LGBTQ” is an acronym used to refer to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning community. Now in its seventh year, the LGBTQ at Union exhibition provides a platform for expression for students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Through shared experiences, members of the Union community continue to learn and grow, and bring awareness to the LGBTQ experience at Union. The goals of the exhibition are to stimulate conversation, educate the campus community on the topic of LGBTQ life at Union, and give LGBTQ individuals and Allies an occasion to share their perspectives.
This year’s artists are: Professor Martin Benjamin, Yuan Gao (’18), Alex Handin (’10), Danielle Melia (’16), Cassandra Padilla (’17), Ran Wang (’15), and Maya Whalen-Kipp (’16).
Please join us for an Opening Reception to celebrate LGBTQ at Union, 2015 on September 30th, from 5 – 6 pm, in the Wikoff Student Gallery. Light refreshments will be served.
This exhibition is co-sponsored by the Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies Program, the Department of Visual Arts, and Schaffer Library. LGBTQ at Union, 2015 is also supported by the Ally Program, the Office of Campus Diversity, Women’s Union, and the Office of Multicultural Affairs.
