LGBTQ+ at Union, 2018: We Are ALL Union
March 30th – June 18th, 2018
The LGBTQ+ at Union exhibition returns this spring to the Wikoff Student Gallery. This year the exhibition will include work in drawing, painting, illustration, photography, digital art, poetry, and film by current Union College students, alumni, and professors.
This year’s artists are: Nicole Bergamini (’20), Kaitlynn Blow (’20), Sata Diakité (’21), Annika Eberle (’20), Abby Ellis (’20), Eva Erickson (’21), William Garner (’18), Richard Ham (’20), Alex Handin (’10), Emerson Hiller (’18), Emma Mahony (’21), Meredith Miller (’97), Eric Seplowitz (’96), and Professor Martin Benjamin.
“LGBTQ+” is an acronym used to refer to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning community. Now in its tenth year, the bi-annual LGBTQ+ at Union exhibition provides a platform for expression for students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Through shared experiences, members of the Union community continue to learn and grow, and bring awareness to the LGBTQ+ experience at the College. The goals of the exhibition are to stimulate conversation, educate the campus community on the topic of LGBTQ+ life at Union, and give LGBTQ+ individuals and Allies an occasion to share their perspectives.
Please join us for a Reception to celebrate LGBTQ+ at Union, 2018: We Are ALL Union, on Wednesday, May 2nd, from 5 – 6 pm. Light refreshments will be served. Free and open to the public. Meredith R. Miller, Union College Class of 1997, will speak at the event. Miller is a Professor of Law at the Touro College, Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center, and principal attorney in Miller Law, PLLC. Miller teaches, writes, and practices in the areas of contract, employment, and business law. She passionately believes that her knowledge should extend beyond the classroom and her teaching aims to reflect the realities of law as it is actually practiced. Additionally, Miller is Immediate Past President of the LGBT Bar Association and Foundation of Greater New York (“LeGaL”), and Second Vice President of the Network of Bar Leaders. She serves on the Independent Judicial Elections Qualification Commission for the First Judicial Department, as well as on the Richard C. Failla LGBTQ Commission of the New York State Courts.
This exhibition is co-sponsored by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies, the Office of Multicultural Affairs, and the Committee on LGBTQ+ Affairs.
