Virtual Graphic Storytelling Night with Stacey Robinson

May 19th, 2020, 5:00 – 6:00 PM, EST

Please join the Mandeville Gallery for our upcoming virtual event with Stacey Robinson, the 2017-18 Art Installation Series artist.

Robinson will lead participants in an exercise of graphic storytelling using the simplest of art-making materials: paper and pencil, or any other mark-making tool of your choosing! Using a step-by-step process, Robinson will have participants build a “comic style” portrait of themselves, encouraging viewers to depict themselves as they’d like to be perceived by others. Participants will begin by imagining a location or new world they would like to inhabit, and then place themselves interactively into that world.

This exercise will give you the opportunity to imagine what our tomorrow could look like and how to actualize that world through art.

Robinson will also give a brief introduction about his process and show examples of how he conceived of the artwork for the graphic novel, I Am Alfonso Jones. Robinson will then work in real-time.

Please submit any questions you would like to ask Stacey to mandevillegallery@union.edu. This event is free and open to the public.
