Virtual Event: In Conversation with Jane Swavely

September 23rd, 2020, 5:00 – 6:00 PM, EST

Please join the Mandeville Gallery for our upcoming virtual event with current exhibiting artist, Jane Swavely, for a conversation with Julie Lohnes, Director and Curator of Art Collections and Exhibitions at Union College.

Speaking about her work, Swavely states, “the paintings simultaneously point to the history of the medium while maintaining a firm conversation in the now. My aim is to create a place of space and light to inspire a shift in perception that is at once familiar and unfamiliar. Although the work depicts abstracted forms and colors, it is based in the landscape tradition, exploring the boundary between the conscious and the subconscious, deriving inspiration from both the natural environment and supernatural forces.”

This event is free and open to the public.

Please submit any questions you have for Jane to our email address: mandevillegallery@union.edu

Swavely’s solo exhibition is on view in the Mandeville Gallery through 2020. However, viewing the exhibition is currently limited to the Union College campus community due to campus-wide safety measures.
