Olivier Model Demonstration by Jeff Jauregui, Assistant Professor of Mathematics

Thursday, February 8th, 2018, 12:55-1:45 PM, Nott Memorial

In conjunction with the Mandeville Gallery’s new exhibition, Probability & Uncertainty, there will be a demonstration of a select few Olivier Models from the Union College Permanent Collection. Please join us as Jeff Jauregui, Assistant Professor of Mathematics, demonstrates how the models move and explains their purpose in the study of mathematics.

Co-sponsorship is generously provided by the Geology Department; Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies; Interdisciplinary Studies; the Math Department; the Office of Diversity and Inclusion; the Physics and Astronomy Department; and the Visual Arts Department. Funding for a research trip to the National Museum of American History, Smithsonian Institution, and the maker workshop event was awarded through Mellon grants, as part of the “Our Shared Humanities” college-wide initiative.
