Valedictorian of the Class of 1997 is Dawn Landry, a chemistry major from Plattsburgh, N.Y., it was announced by Dean of Faculty Linda Cool. Jennifer Lawless, a political science major from Middletown, N.Y., is salutatorian.

The faculty on Thursday approved the awarding of 501 baccalaureate degrees, 158 masters degrees and one doctoral degree at Commencement on June 15 at 10 a.m.
in Library Plaza.

There are to be 492 day program students earning 492 baccalaureate degrees, and 168 graduate and continuing studies students earning 9 baccalaureates, 158
masters and one doctoral degree.

Independent acquisition consultant Robert Holland Jr. '62 will be
honorary chancellor and deliver the main address. He will receive an honorary doctor of
laws degree.

Paul LeClerc, president of the New York Public Library and former
associate professor of French at Union, will receive an honorary doctor of letters degree.
Bryn Mawr College President Mary Patterson McPherson will receive an honorary doctor of
letters.
