Schenectady, N.Y. (April 6, 1998) – Two powerful photo exhibits on the Holocaust have been seen by thousands from the region since they opened March 15 at Union College's Nott Memorial.
They will close on April 23.
French Children of the Holocaust, a memorial exhibition based on the book of the same title by Nazi-hunter Serge Klarsfeld, puts faces and stories to the names of some of the 11,000 French children who were deported and killed during World War II.
Of Light Amidst the Darkness – the Danish Rescue uses the photography of Judith Ellis Glickman to chronicle the leaders and events of the Danish resistance to the Nazis.
Since the exhibits opened, they have been seen by thousands of people from the area. Hundreds of children from dozens of area schools have attended through an educational program directed by the Holocaust Survivors and Friends Education Center.
The two exhibits are part of Lessons for Humanity, a series of Holocaust remembrance events at Union College. They are free and open to the public.
The Nott Memorial, at the center of the Union College campus, is open Sunday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and Friday and Saturday, noon to 5 p.m.
Lessons for Humanity is presented by Union College and the Holocaust Survivors and Friends Education Center. Major support is provided by an anonymous donor from the Union College family.
