Therese McCarty, associate professor of economics, was elected chair of
the Faculty Executive Committee at a meeting of the faculty on Wednesday.

Faculty also learned that the motion to move Greek rush to sophomore
year will be forwarded to the Student Affairs Council. Faculty had approved the move by a
vote of 119 to 2. The change would take effect with the Class of 2004.

Dean Brad Lewis explained a proposal to drop Section IV, Option 2 from
the GenEd requirements. The proposal will be discussed in division meetings and voted in
the next two weeks, Frazier said. If approved, the change would be implemented with the
Class of 2003.

Dean Linda Cool reviewed the current merit system.
