Ramasami '99 received an honorable mention at the Hudson Mohawk

Association of Colleges and Universities' annual Diversity Awards

ceremony.

Ramasami, a Ph.D. student in African history at

the University of Wisconsin, received the excellence in leadership nominee

award for her leadership at Union in promoting diversity, tolerance and

community service.

She was active in the leadership of the African

and Latin Alliance of Students, a member of the Multicultural Affairs

Group, a key player in Speakers' Forum, which was instrumental in

raising student consciousness on multicultural issues, culminating in a

visit by the Rev. Jesse Jackson.
