Sixteen theater students will show up at Yulman Theater
on Saturday with their dreams.

Jon Lipsky, who teaches at Boston University's Theater
Consortium, will lead a workshop on dream theater, his specialty for the
last two decades.

Actors have been asked to keep dream journals. Using
those dreams, Lipsky will have small groups of actors make a theatrical
image of mini plays that are “very Strindberg-looking,”
according to William Finlay, director of the Yulman Theater.

“This is tremendous training for actors to
understand a physical approach to image making,” said Finlay.
“Rather than talk about it, they have to manifest the idea in
physical action. There is lots of emotional risk-taking. It's risky to
take a personal experience like a dream and make it public.”
