Junior quarterback Ben Gilbert (Brattleboro, VT/Brattleboro) was named the UCAA “Offensive Player of the
Week” and captured a spot on the ECAC “Honor Roll” after
throwing four touchdown passes in the opening 40-7 win over St. Lawrence. Gilbert threw touchdowns of 63, 13, 15 and 32 yards and ran for a three-yard score. Gilbert, who has started every game since first putting on a Garnet uniform as a freshman in 1998, has now thrown for 3,659 yards and 28 touchdowns while leading the Dutchmen to an overall record of 16-5. Five other Dutchmen signal callers have thrown four touchdown passes in a game. Tom Hitchcock (Class of '66) first turned the trick against Hamilton in 1965. Brian Harris (Class of '93) did it twice during the 1992 season (against St. Lawrence and WPI).
