Freshman Lauren Stellato (Old Westbury, NY/Friends Academy) was named the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association's “Rookie of the Year” after leading the Dutchwomen to a record-tying 9-3 dual meet season. Stellato, who advanced to the semi-finals of the New York State Championships out the No. 1 singles position, also teamed with junior Susan Yoo to advance to the semi-finals of the double competition in the state meet out of the No. 1 spot.
Stellato finished an outstanding season by posting a 16-3 singles record and, along with Yoo, was 15-4 in doubles. She also advanced to the quarterfinals of the Rolex Invitational earlier this month.
Stellato, who was also named to the league's All-Conference team, is the first Dutchwoman to earn a postseason UCAA honor.
