Yvonne Turchetti (Red Hook, NY/ Red Hook) led the Dutchwomen to two victories last week and was named the UCAA's “Player of the Week.” The junior defensewoman had two goals and an assist in a 4-0 victory over New Paltz and added another goal in a 3-2 OT victory over Oswego. Turchetti leads the Dutchwomen in both goals (8) and points (19).
A three year starter, Turchetti was last year's leading scorer for the Dutchwomen as she had 10 goals and two assists for 22 points. Her efforts earned her a spot on the UCAA's All-Conference First-Team as well as a position on the Eastern Regional Second-Team.
As a freshman, Turchetti showed her strong defensive skills as she was named to the UCAA Second-Team.
The Dutchwomen head into the final week of the regular-season with an overall record of 6-7 and a UCAA mark of 2-3. With two road games remaining, the Dutchwomen probably need to sweep league foes Vassar (on Friday) and Rensselaer (on Saturday) to earn a spot in the upcoming New York State Women's Collegiate Athletic Association postseason tournament.
