“Player of the Week”


The women's hockey team was rewarded for last weekend's non-league sweep of Cortland State as three players received the Eastern College Athletic Conference's highest weekly awards.


Senior forward Melissa Johnson (Glens Falls, NY/Glens Falls) was named the league's “Player of the Week,” freshman goaltender Victoria Elkins (Bernardsville, NY/Medham) was named the “Goalie of the Week” and freshman forward Emily Taylor (Toronto, Ont./Leasdale) was named “Rookie of the Week” as Union captured victories of 6-2 and 4-3 over the Red Dragons.

Johnson scored a goal in the Dutchwomen's 6-2 victory on Saturday and had two goals and an assist in Union's 4-3 victory on Sunday.


Elkins stopped 40 shots in Saturday's victory as Cortland held a commanding 42-29 shots on goal advantage.

“Freshman of the Week”


Taylor had two goals and an assist on Saturday and one assist in the Sunday victory.


Last weekend's sweep evened Union's overall record at 2-2. The Dutchwomen are in their second season as a varsity sport.
