The Career Development Center (CDC) has gone electronic to an even greater extent this year with the addition of an electronic recruiting system (eRecruiting) that enables students and employers to communicate with each other twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

The new system lets students — whenever they want — upload their resumes, browse for positions, and apply online for an interview. Employers can enter the position and company information that they want students to see and review resumes at their convenience. Everything is done though a password protected system.
Judi Gordon, the CDC's recruiting coordinator, says that alumni can now benefit from the system as well.

Interested alumni can get a password from the CDC and have “browse only” access so that they can obtain information about employers who are recruiting. Alumni with positions to fill who would like to interview on campus or receive a packet of resumes can get a password to put their job and company information online.

As in the past, alumni can fax job announcements to the CDC at 518-388-6544 to post on the website for students or other alumni.

Alumni who assist the Career Development Center provide a great service to students.
Alumni who came to campus last fall included Adam Breslawsky and Ryan Bloom for JP Morgan, Kathy Keim and Peter Fenaroli for IBM, Ed Lonergan for General Dynamics, Mary McKay and Todd Washburn for GE, Ron Kinghorn and Mark Reid for PricewaterhouseCoopers, Greg Williams and Jared Sandman for Texas Instruments, Roger Loeb (a parent) for Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, and numerous alumni for Andersen Consulting and Hewitt Associates.
Alumni who want to come to campus to interview for full-time positions or internships should call Judi Gordon in the CDC at 518-388-6364. She also can supply information about the eRecruiting program.

In addition to electronic recruiting, the improved Union Career Advisory Network (U-CAN) is now online.

With U-CAN, alumni, family, and friends provide general information and advice about their fields. Students and alumni who have been given a user name and password can search the database by industry, job function, state, country, and/or major.
The program has 1,255 registered volunteers assisting in such areas as employer information, career advising, internships and summer jobs, and more. Participants also can volunteer to conduct on-campus mock interviews, host students at their work sites during breaks, speak to groups about career fields, and participate in career events held by local alumni clubs.

The CDC would like to expand Union's Career Advisory Network. Those interested should contact Shelly Shinebarger via e-mail (shinebas@union.edu) or phone (518-388-6176.) All volunteers are given a user name and password that enables them to enter profile information.
