Martin Benjamin,
professor of photography, has 20 new works (archival inkjet
prints) included in the grand opening exhibition for Trink Gallery,
122 Remsen Street, Cohoes. The exhibition opens with a
reception on June 14 and continues through Aug. 11. His photographs
also appeared recently in two new VH1 Television productions,
The Hall of Fame Induction Show and One-Hit
Wonders. On June 3, some of his photographs of
boxer Mike Tyson appeared in the E Entertainment Television
Network program E True Story: Mike Tyson. Benjamin also
recently delivered a lecture about his work at the Doane Stuart School
in Albany, part of their 2002 Humanities Symposium
Lecture Series.
Robert Fleischer publishes in Encyclopedia of Materials
Robert Fleischer, research professor of geology, is
the author of a chapter on the subject of applications of track
detectors in the Encyclopedia of Materials (Elsevier Science, 2001).
Fleischer describes how tracks – needle shaped collections of
atomic fissions that can be caused by nuclear particles in many solids
– are useful in fields ranging from radiobiology, to aerosol
collection and identification, to dating temperature rises in the past
in geological materials.
Robert Hislope publishes in Ethnic and Racial Studies
Robert Hislope, assistant professor of political science,
is author of an essay, “Between a Bad Peace and a Good
War: Insights and Lessons from the Almost-War in
Macedonia,” which was accepted for publication in the journal
Ethnic and Racial Studies. He also has been invited by the Foundation
Open Society Institute of Macedonia to present his work on corruption
at the forum, “How Macedonia Is Fighting Corruption,” to be
held in Skopje, Macedonia, on June 22. Attending this seminar will
be Macedonian government officials, political parties, media,
and representatives of international organizations.
Charles McClinton selected for Leadership Institute
Charles McClinton, associate director of athletics, has
been selected for the 2002-03 NCAA Leadership Institute for
Ethnic Minority Males. The 12-month program is designed as a
model for athletics administrators to receive training for
advancement to leadership roles in athletics. He was one of 25 selected nationally.
