For many years, Donald C. Loughry '52 and his wife, Alice, have been supporting a prize for the student or students completing the best senior projects in computer science, computer systems engineering, or electrical engineering.

This year they combined a visit to Union for Don's fiftieth ReUnion with an opportunity to meet some of the students who won the Loughry Prize. the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Winners missing from the photo are Michael Jessup '02 and Andrew Stone '02.

In May, Don was awarded the first Engineering Dean's Outstanding Alumni Award, given to an engineering or computer science graduate for the advancement of the engineering profession in a national context and for service to Union. Don served in several capacities at the Hewlett-Packard Co., including lab manager at the R & D lab and standards manager for the computer organization. He also has been active in IEEE, including membership on its board of directors and serving as vice president, standards. He currently in a senior member of IEEE.
